The unique aspect of a door within a garage door is perfect for homes with garages having no other access to the outside. It creates a convenient and secure point of entry into any garage or shop space and prevents having to open the entire garage door when doing small jobs.  

The location of the door is determined by the traffic patterns from the outside to the inside of your garage whether it is left, right or in the middle.  The garage door is cut without compromising its strength, and built-in trusses maintain the structural integrity of the panels.  The walk-through door is framed, bottom and top weather-seal retainers are put on, a few hinges are added, and the doorknob and deadbolt finish the product.  

The garage door panels used for the base for the walk-through doors are steel, filled with a polyurethane core giving the door a high R-Value (the minimum being R-12 and the maximum being R-18). The polyurethane provides a greater insulating factor than the typical styrofoam fill.  Able to accommodate any garage door size, the door opening can be custom fitted to the size you want.  Windows can finish off your custom look although there are limitations. 

It is not necessary to replace your existing door, providing that the door’s thickness is able to accommodate the door-within-a-door addition.  The springs will have to be resized for proper balancing. However, we do recommend that the entire door be redone to ensure that a quality product is installed.
